The goal of the Greene County Board of MRDD is to continue the development
Human Services organizations across the United States are rapidly reaching a point in their evolution whereby the resources (federal, state, and community), through which they have traditionally operated and grown, are no longer able to keep up with the increased service demands. Changes in the definition of "developmental disabilities and/or delays" combined with increased longevity and improved diagnostic and therapeutic interventions have and will continue to contribute to an increased population requiring services and supports. The Greene County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities (MRDD) has made it a practice to monitor these trends as well as potential alternatives for carrying out its mission and providing effective support to persons with differing abilities. It has become increasingly clear that everything to be provided and/or supported by this agency, on behalf of its consumers, must have a direct and verifiable connection to individual outcomes chosen by the people for themselves. This year, the board received a three year accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities or CARF. CARF is an international commission that accredits 25,000 rehabilitation organizations in the United States, Canada, and Europe. Our Early Childhood Program was accredited in Youth Services and our Adult Program, Greene Inc was accredited in Community Employment Services, which includes Vocational Evaluation Services, Employee Development Services, Placement Services, Organizational Employment Services, and Personal, Social & Community Services.
